Why everything takes so long in this house

Todays' job, install a new toilet roll holder in the room at the top of the house on the third floor.
1) Take parts, drill, screwdriver and spirit level to the room, a climb of 50 stairs
2) Realise that plasterboard rawl plugs are needed, go down to basement to get new rawl plugs and a different drill - 50 stairs down, 50 stairs back up
3) Attempt to drill hole and find the battery is flat on the drill - 50 stairs down, new battery, 50 stairs up
4) Drill holes, install toilet roll holder.
5) Fetch vacuum cleaner to clean dust - luckily only 15 stairs down and 15 stairs back up as it is on the 2nd floor
6) Clean mess, tidy up and take tools back to basement - 50 stairs down
7) Realise I left a screwdriver on the sink - 50 stairs back up, 50 stairs down
8) Done

Total - 430 stairs 215 down and 215 up!

Introduction

This is the first post. I run a guest house with my wife in Wales right by the beach. 100 years ago I my predecessors would have been able to write "right by the sea" but the sea has receded quite a lot. Partly due to the County Council allowing marram grass to take hold and build sand dunes on the beach. So we're one of the few that will benefit from global warming and the sea rising again, but I digress. We have 3 young children, 2 cats and a dog. The guest house is always in need of repair so even when we don't have guests there is always work to do. We have a busy life but I wouldn't go back to an office job. The children are all girls, the dog is a girl, one of the cats is a girl, so me and the cat are the only two males in the house. We used to have rats too, 6 girls, so it was 12 against 2.

Future posts may include stories on DIY, music, guests, children and life. I think that just about covers it.
